Question

I've got a std UK MY00 turbo with a Scoobysport d/p, magnex centre and WR backbox and have been considering getting the PPP as well.
Today I took a UK MY00 PPP out for a test drive and, er, wasn't particularly imprezzed. Frankly it felt as though it had similar oomph to my car; could this be the case? I can't for a moment imagine that a catless exhaust could provide any where near the same performance increases as a PPP but it did feel like it (the PPP was about a billion times quieter though! )
Any thoughts?

I've owned both and would say the PPP really comes into its own above 50/60mph.The lower torque also means you don't find yourself changing down to overtake so much. Plus you rarely need to use higher revs – which may be better for the engine?

In 99, on the way to Catalunya, we did a test from a toll booth on the French motorway. My 99 with full system and Steve's 99 with PPP.

Rolling start at 10mph, side by side, 3-2-1-GO over the walkie talkies... and away we went.

We got up to XXX mph before approaching traffic and slowing. In the test there was never more than a 1m advantage for either car.

John Stewart was with me in my car and Steve's brother was with him.

Question

Thanks for the replies folks.
Question is then, would I be mad to swap my MY00, 11000m, decat exhaust car for a MY00, 30000m, PPP + 17" OZs + WRC spoiler?
It's deal I'm considering at the mo' hence the test drive today only I'm a bit concerned about the mileage on the PPP car. PPP car is up at about £20000. Or should I just stick with what I've got?

Get the PPP - and then add the full Scoobysport exhaust to it

My MY99 +PPP+d/p+centre+bb+induction kit gave 287bhp and c290lb/ft torque

Thumbs up

Gary - yeah that's kind of what I was thinking of but I'm still a bit wary of a Mid 2000 car with 30,000m; maybe I'll just save my pennies and buy a PPP for my current car....(and save some more to get the spoiler and then a bit more to get the OZs...grrr)

Have you had any boost problems running a decat exhaust with the PPP?

Not at all - and I did 42000miles in 16 months - they can take the mileage

Well being the proud owner of a PPP'd MY00 all i can say is that the change was fantastic when they had the car in
If i had a uk car (has euro import) i would go the PPP way, i did anyway but i benefit from much more mid range than a normal turbo car, and remember mine still has that orrible cat on the D/P, and you dont.... remove that and my cars a flying machine in comparison
The Prodrive exhaust is quieter compared to the s/s one but its cos i do more motorway driving so i dont want to get tired of the loud noise, but i love the mid range i now have
Also, some MY00's seem tighter than others, especially until after 10k miles, so even then your car wont be pushing its best but when she flies now, she flies its a good package to have and actually slightly better on fuel consumption (and sul is the reccommended fuel for a PPP chip)
The down side is you have to put your car back to standard if you want the PPP fitting or else just try to find a chip.
Hope this helps

Tony (and the jag s type killer i still dont know why they try lol! )
