I have a tsl sports cat for my02 wrx - this sports cat down pipe is the same size at the downpipe on a classic ( i had to swap for a classic tsl centre section )
if I was to swap for a HKS Hiper or a Bliz nur spec R - would these fit cause I keep hearing u need a link pipe but with my larger downpipe will this be ok

The HKS & Blitz are odd sizes - but only 'within' themselves; i.e. their centre-section is not a standard length & needs to go with the matching BB, but the 'external' connection - to the DP - is the same as standard.
And the classic & post-classic are the same shape, the only difference AFAIK is the position of the forward bar on the BB is mirrored.
Well, I'm confused now! I think it makes sense if you read it enough times...

so if i have a classic downpipe (longer than std bugeye downpipe)
the nur spec r will still fit
theres one in the for sale section hopefully this will clear my resonance problem with my equal length headers

Erm, hang on... the classic DP shouldn't be any longer than the standard bugeye fit? At least, the ones I've seen (& used on one occassion) haven't been... so I'm a bit confused now!
I think you might want to check with someone else, as I am most befuddled

Easy Q to ans
The classic size Dp will eliminate the problem of having a link pipe.
As the std UK bugeye DP is shorter than the classic (which is the same size as the Jap bugeye- classic) you will need the DP.
So to clear things up.
Std bugeye length Dp requires link pipe.
Classic (long DP) does not require DP.
I may be wrong here but connecting Japanese backboxes to std centre centres may cause problems as the japanese pipework is 3" and the std centres or other replacement centres are 2.5"

Ah
Given this 'link pipe' info, there shouldn't be a problem, no - the 2.5" & 3" di pipes have the same positioning for the bolts (the two mate up correctly) - there's just a step change in the size of the tube. Which is fine.
