Hi all, just wondering, I need an actuator for a TD05, and a mate has one lying around, but for a Cosworth T3 turbo. Would I be able to use this on the TD05? I appreciate that the rod may need modifying a little, but will it operate properly as I only intend to run 20-21psi max?

Mountings are completley different. The Subaru one comes with a flange/bracket whereas the Cossie one mounts on a central thread.
Also the cossie one has a much bigger diaphram case, so there may be clearnace issues.

did you not want 350bhp at powerstation , think you even wanted to keep a tmic iirc?

even with fmic, octane and aggressive mapping, it will be hard imo on a TD05

or do you mean a td05/06 turbo?

T-uk, its a TD05/06 mate Just need an actuator for it. Will be going FMIC aswell I reckon, but quite tempted to try it on the TMIC first? Waste of time?

Can anybody suggest an alternative Actuator that will do the job?
Is the TD04 one the same as TD05? I need to lengthen the rod to the wastegate anyway, so the length isn't a problem, just so long as the fittings are the same!

For a 20G you need to fabricate a new bracket anyway for the compressor cover. The fitting onto the wastegate linkage is the same for TD04 and TD05. You could thread a TD04 fitting onto the TD05 rod which you will have lengthened AFAIK.

Be cautious over fitting an actuator too strong, beware of boost creep.

John thanks, I will have a bracket supplied with the turbo, just missing the actuator! Can't source one from anywhere at the moment

There is a difference between a big actuator and a strong one.

The bigger the diamter of the actuator, the less pressure is required to overcome the spring. This means that you can have an actuator that is strong, and keeps the wastgate shut firm, but opens easily with moderate pressure.

I beleive that you will be better off with the actuator on the td05/06 as it should be better placed to cope with the extremes of boost control including wastegate and/or boost creep.

Most td05/06 cars do okay with fettled td05 actuators, main exceptions being the 2 I've mapped!
