Cool

Ok, so I now have a new DP, and am considering putting it on myself (access to garage etc). What I want to know is how to go about it - what I should look out for and perhaps some hints to make the process go a lot smoother...

Any ideas / help guides are very much welcomed...

Regards,
NEAL

Cheesboy,

The worst job is loosening the turbo to Dp bolts, they have been hot and cold so many times that they will be really tight - as in REALLY tight.

I would advise that you get it hot and squirt wd40 or similar on the threads that you can see after taking off the heat shield. Once loosened it's all fairly straight forward. use a small amount of exhaust paste on the cone gasket between the dp and centre pipe to make a good seal and MAKE SURE that you refit the turbo heatshield - it is very important that you do so. You may have to snip it around a bit to get a nice fit but be sure to put it back.

Cheesboy,

i found that removing the heat shield was the hardest part as 2 of the bolts had seized (and one almost fell into the OPEN gearbox dipstick filler...... open to easy access,, don't make the same mistake. ) Then sprayed wd40 on all the downpipe bolts for the next couple of days. I had garage facilities when removing the downpipe proper and it was a breeze,,even tough it had been on there for 4 years . Pretty sure its easier for us with lhd as more room to work in. By far the best mod done so far !
Good luck
