I was just wondering if the weakest link for power on an open deck block was the block itself, or the internals? How much theoretical power can an open deck block handle with upgraded engine internals? Any information will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I think you might find that it's closer to being unanswerable.
A year or so ago, anything other 350bhp without a CDB & internals eas expected to go bang. There are now many cars running 400bhp+ on fully standard internals & open deck block, but none of them have gone - as far as I am concerned - far enough to prove they are reliable (can't do that in a year - need a few! ) although certainly none of them appear to be unreliable. There is at least one car closing in on 600bhp which is open deck, although I think has new rods? (sorry Harvey - your spec is wayyy beyond what I can remember off the top of my head!).
However, there are other cars which have blown which are 100% standard.
Basically, nobody knows.
IMHO, if you're going to start mucking about with the innards, you may as well get it all done. Uprate the rods/pistons, etc. & the ODB becomes the weak link. Switch to a CDB & it becomes the rods, etc. Your choice - but I don't think there's enough info out there to glean any accurate result. Browse through posts over the past year (particularly in the 'projects' forum) & see what info you can pick up from there - obviously ignore posts like 'what colour should my dump valve be?' & you'll be able to see that things are rather variable!

Oh - and don't ask something early in the weekend & expect anything by the end of it - most people are 'here' (on Scoobynet) at work, not at home, so weekends are usually slow. Being stroppy won't get you far!
