The Ra's of 95 vintage have 3.9 diffs and ultra short gears.
If the box has a centre DCCD the rear diff will be plated, if the box has a viscous centre LSD then the rear LSD will also be viscous.

Good grief Andy, you should write a book on all these details. Now I've sorted my RA trans out I think it is a 92/94 unit as the rear isn't plated and it does have a 4.111:1 ratio. Presumably it makes it the shortest trans made by Subaru?
I just hope it makes the car faster.....
Would like to give you a public thank you for all your help.
The learning curve on Impreza's is bloody steep, makes 911's easy by comparison!
Regards. Graham.

Andy, or anyone else:
If the RA trans has NO manually adjustable center diff, therefore only an LSD in the rear, can I keep the abs in my STi which will soon get the RA trans?

Thank god for that, didn't fancy doing the brakes as well as the trans!
Must try harder as in the dry I can't get the ABS to come in while diving into a 90 left (too fast). Sometimes I wonder if its working...
Thanks again Andy, regards, Graham.
