Quick question...what size of spark plug tool do i need to get them out?

Knowing subaru, its probably a "special" tool. I remember the last time mine came out , not such an easy task!

you need to take your eye out its socket and look down the hole to see what size they are

You need a 16mm plug socket, small extention, and universal joint, and will have to take the battery and airbox off to get to them.

After that its slow going.

dunno if its the same set-up as yours but i changed mine on me MY99 and got away with only removing the bolts for the washer bottle and sliding it up a bit to give me some room on the passenger side, drivers side was piece of pi$$ coz i have an induction kit. Problem i had was that i had to use 2 socket extension things with the plug socket on the end and kept leaving the plug socket behind when i tried to remove it, in the end i just used a normal socket and a steady pair of hands to ensure the plug didn`t slide out of it
