Its a pain in the **** danny basically. Apparently by the time you do all the piping etc, it works out about £500 for a fmic. So you save about £700 but its a lot of work.

I know a company that will start making cutom FMICs. They are in the process of testing the first one i believe and if it pulls off, should be about £600 - £650.

Core is meant to be as good as the HKS one

Ive told 3 people about it and 3 people want it. Could be a group buy

What about using some second hand APS of HKS piping to meet up with it. Solves the hassle of making the pipes, you would just need to make up adapters for the pipes to fit on the IC.

Bigger isn't always better. "Core" design is VERY important though. Cores vary in price not only depending on size, but design. I've seen cores of a similar size, ranging from £150, to over £1000.

"Secondhand" pipe work ! well I guess you find the odd set from a damaged car.

Mark.

The pipe work does'nt worry me at all. I used to be a welder/fabricator plus I have a mate who makes custom exhausts.

Mybe if I could find the right IC I'll open shop

I've been toying with the idea of making my own FMIC using an intercooler from one of the big 4x4's (Shogun, range rover, etc). I can fabricate the pipework using alloy or stainless easy enough but wanted to know if there's anything I should know about the intercooler.

Am i right to assume the bigger the better?

Is there something I'm forgetting as I can't understand why more people don't do it and save themselves a grand?
