Just had my WRX03 road dynoed twice with DD road dyno, 3rd gear two persons and ambient temp 26C degree, is 203 ps - 201 lbFt normal?
Just to have a comparison...

Thumbs up

Hi Jim,

203hp is a great figure for a stocker. I don't know what others have been getting with the MY03 though.

What car weight did you put into the Dyno? Did you take your passenger into consideration? Is it with the smoothing set on heavy? Was the road flat?

The figures can be out if weight is not enterd correctly. If the weight figure is higher than what your car weighed on the run, it will show more power. Smoothing also plays a role. The lighter and medium smoothing setting will show more power. Also an uphill road will show more power and downhill less.

When are you going to Athens?

Cheers,

George.

Hi George
Weight was setting at 1550 kgms (two persons, 40lt fuel and some other extras in the boot), smoothing was at heavy and the road was flat although in the first measurement I had 199ps that is quite close to the second.
I don't know of course if this counts but DD road dyno doesn't include the MY03 on the supported cars regarding drag cd and front area sqm thus I used as example the "New shape WRX01>" choice.
Cheers
JIM

I am not going to visit Athens as I work all this time and my problem actually isn't problem but noisy plastic boots on the steering that need replacing with old elastic type!

So my figures John are normal even if they are little under 200ps as per first measurement?
My mechanic told me that my car drives very well and probably better from other similar cars, I found also that my injector duty cycles with BP Ultimate 100RON are in 3rd gear 95% in most cases that isn't normal which ever way you look at it for a standard WRX03!
Is this a indication that it performs so well?

Probably it runs a lot of timing advance with the good fuel. Few people have Road Dyno tested standard MY03s to know what is normal.

Pavlo,

That's what I thought too but apparently it's the opposite. Also adding more weight than you have, adds power as well, instead of decreasing it. That's what I found on my DD anyway.

Jim,

Good power. The MY03 drag cd is the same as the MY01 car.

Cheers,

George.

Downhill will falsely show more power - best done on a known flat road or average of both directions on a road with a uniform gradient. Road Dyno is based on rate of change of RPM - downhill it will accelerate more quickly so show more power. More weight (the entry you put in not the real weight) will falsely show more power, as will more drag (again what you put in not the real drag), although at sensible speeds the weight is more important. Tyre profile can have a large effect too. Worn tyres add about 5-10 WHP compared with new tyres also.
