why wont my car start??
#1
Right, unfortuantly i have had a few weeks off doing my car due to a little incident.
basically, i got it together now, its turning fine e.t.c but it wont start. i have checked each coilpack, and that each one has got a spark, all OK. i have checked the fuel supply and its there. i have checked for a signal for the injectors and its there. unless all 4 have gone kaput (which has odds of one in a million) then im stumped.
anyone got any ideas??? it just wont fire, plenty of omph, just no go...

if everything seems to work i would squirt a little petrol in the manifold and see if it runs a few seconds if it does its fuel if not its more serious/wires of something like that what have you done to it?

should have put some background into it...
basically i have carried out a full WRX to STi conversion with an STi3 engine. so far i have been OK but as you can see im struggling to get it up and running.
I am a mechanic myself, but as any good mecxhanic should do, im seeing if there is anything different but obvious about this engine by talking to some of the experts...
failing this its time to get the osciliscope out, which i really cant be bothered to do...

Ahh right! I see....
Could just see the comments to the AA guy...
Well what happened mate?
Well, i came out this morning, turned the key and it wont fire up! Oh erm by the way - the other day I swapped the engine for and Sti one and now it wont go!
Have you put the Sti ECU in too?

if your getting a spark and fuel you cant be far away
However, despite a new battery, attempted jump start from friend's car, and eventually towing the thing behind another car, it stubbornly refused to start. Replaced the coil, turned the key, and it started first time.

Chances of all four coil packs packing up are very slim.
are you sure the timing isnt out?
are you sure the rails are getting fuel?
Are you sure the coil pack leads are correctly connected? if both sides are back to front (ie. back is front etc).
does the ISCV have a vacumn pipe going to it from the inlet pipe?
Is the ISCV plugged onto the loom?
Is the ISCV stuck inside?
Is the temp sensor ok?
have you got the cam and crank sensors mixed up?
are the Injector connectors plugged onto the correct injector?
Some daft questions perhaps but??

You have said that you have signal at each inj and spark at each coil, this says to me it is either:
Connectors on wrong Inj/colipacks.
ISCV prob
TIMING
