I finally made the trip to Swindon on saturday to visit Bob Rawle for my first mapping session (and a dose of food poisoning from a dodgy Swindon burger van).
As well as getting to go out in Bobs crazy powered Impreza my car has been completely transformed and the grin factor i had when i first drove an Impreza has returned with avengeance. Truely awesome.
Saturday was red hot and the car pulled harder than it did on the coldest of days! Cant imagine what it'll be like come winter.
Big thanks to Bob for a great morning. No doubt i will be making the trip again in future as this tuning bug cant be stopped only quenched!

Hi, the traditional question - what other mods have you got? I'd be interested to hear about the effect of a Link ECU on a totally standard car, or maybe with just a scoobysport backbox...

Dean and Dodge, car is MY99 STi V5 Type R.
Mods: Scooby sport d/p and centre section, TSL Firestorm bb, HKS Super Power Flow Induction, Forge recirc d/v, Walbro fuel pump, FSE fuel regulator and Samco Turbo hoses.
A couple of the mods mentioned aren't vital but since i was travelling quite a distance to see Bob i wanted to make sure that nothing would stuff the map up.
I cant recommend it enough m8.

You and your dodgy burgers , you'll never learn - will you
Have you kept your Sti Hoses ?
I may need them if I fit a PPP Ecu. Good price given for the 4 lumps of rubber in the corner of your garage !
Can I have a big box as well
Chris

LOL!
This time i have definately learnt a lesson. I have been having terrible stomach cramps since 5.30am saturday morning and ive been through about 10 bog rolls, i wish i could let rip!
Anyway onto a lighter note, yep i kept the hoses so if you want them they're yours. I didnt keep the samco box as it was taking up too much room!

Any chance of finding out how much it cost and what sort of power and torque your running now, I have the same MY car with similar mods. If you don't want to post on the board could you mail me?
Cheers

Simb,
Don't think Tripple x is being ignorant - he just doesn't use the computer all day (unlike us office geeks, eh Tripple)
I'll give him a reminder when I see him on Wednesday.

simb, i bought the ecu, knock link, lambda link and 3 port boost solenoid second hand at a reasonable price off TBMeech. The first mapping session with bob cost £250 (i had fit the stuff apart from ecu and solenoid myself) and if any further mods appear then a further mapping session is £150.
Power wise i am yet to get it on the rollers but the average figures ive come across on here for these mods bring the car to about 320 bhp. Hope to find out on the rollers before long. If you think that your car is running about 300 bhp with decat etc then 20bhp from the Link ecu doesnt sound much but there is a hell of a differance, so much more pull than before all the way to the redline, its nuts.
Plus the fact that it should be safer as its mapped for our fuel and does away with the dreaded MAF sensor.
Towers, regarding the hoses, i will bring them thursday m8 as ive decided to have tommorrow off too, cheers for filling in when im not about.

Damn I miss my Link now
Told you it would make a supreme difference, Bob's mapping skills are unquestionable imo
I do think you'll be running circa 310-320 bhp with that spec.
I bet the difference in spool up etc is much better?

Cheers Triple X, I've just had the car rolling roaded a couple weeks back at G-force, she managed 301 BHP but only 240 ft/lb of torque. This is the figure I would like to increase, although a bit more BHP would be good. Will give B R developments a call to see whats what.
Cheers again lads

TBMeech, i bet you do mate, is it right you might be getting another?!
Andrew, it did turn out to be the lambda sensor yes. Was only getting 0.3v from the thing. New one fitted on sat.
simb, you wont be dissapointed with br, top guy. The good thing with the link is that it can accomodate future mods if so dessired which probably wont be long!
