Question

Seems that most people end up with a TD05 or hybrid of some sort when putting a FMIC on.

Is it vital or just maximising the FMIC potential?

Mine felt awful with a TD04 and FMIC. Maybe that was because I lost 100 BHP, but it didn't feel as quick to respond as the standard TMIC. Was glad to see the back of it.

I have an FMIC with the TD04 and agree with JB that it feels wrong but saying that it definately pulls better.

Question

When you say "see the back of it" John, I presume you mean the TD04?

Jake, can you elaborate on your statement, "It feels wrong but pulls better" What bit feels wrong?

Yes the TD04, but particularly the TD04 with the FMIC. I still enjoy driving a well setup TD04 because of the crisp response. The FMIC killed that, it just felt like it was a very small turbo running not much airflow - I honestly think the TD05 with FMIC is virtually no laggier but hits far harder. The TD04/FMIC felt like the worst of both worlds.

Ok the turbo is really laggy but when its upto full boost it seems to just rev better and harder definate big improvement its just got far to much lag and I have a lot of jerkiness on lift off caused by the Forge.

John - when you say the TD05 is not much laggier do you mean with the TD04 and FMIC or with the TMIC???

You are starting to worry me as I have a TD05 in my garage waiting to go on.

With a FMIC I don't think the TD05 is obviously laggier than the TD04. A bigger turbo seems to cope with a FMIC far better.
