Question

I have just bought a Scoobysport up-pipe for my 93 wrx. It will be used in conjuction with down pipe and full blitz exhaust.

I'm reading that this section of pipe replaces the cat on newer models but not for older models like mine.

I'm also hearing of the time and cost of fitting this up-pipe.

Is there actually any benefit of this up-pipe upgrade for my car?

I have read that it does help to reduce cyclinder temps and right enough, my car is always on the point of detting.

Appart from that, is the ££££ worth of labour going to bring any extra performance on top of this supposed cyclinder temp reduction.

Please help before i melt my credit card without a valid reason

why not get your headers and up pipe ported!

will probably cost the same with better results.

i think David Wallis does it for around the £100 mark

So is this up-pipe that is in the post to me, kind of a pointless purchase?

I'm afraid you kinda lost me with the porting talk!

The standard up-pipe is a terrrrible, horid thing! SS one much better....plus the heatshield will never rattle again!

Nasty job, should wrap the pipe as well.......mind the cam cover gaskets and rubber seals.....oh and deffo sort out the headers while your there!!!!

There is two - uppipe goes from exhaust headers up to the turbo, downpipe from the turbo to the centre section underneath the car.

Retaining the heat in the uppipe increases exhaust gas velocity improving turbo spooling hence the heat wrap. AFAIK

They do make a difference , when I fitted mine (admittedly it is a rather modified engine) it felt alot less restrictive at the top end .
