Cool

1. What down pipe would be compatible with the full Blitz Nur spec R exhaust? This will be fitted to a 93 wrx. Bearing in mind that i'm aiming to release as much power as possible from this de-cat mod.

2. Can the down pipe and exhaust be fitted easily? Also bearing in mind that all i have is a couple of ramps to put front or back wheels up on and basic tools.

As no-one else is replying:
1. I have no experience of nurspec R
2. In theory, no problem. I changed mine with just the front on ramps. A little easier if you have two people - one to come at it via the top (intercooler has to come off first), and one from underneath. It's not too difficult - fitted my full system in an evening and fitted in a game of squash. Perhaps 3 hours, and I'm a fairly average amateur mechanic. Only issue, especially with an older car, is that the studs securing the downpipe to the turbo may be seized. This can add huge amounts of time and hassle. You'll also probably need to trim the heatshield to make it fit back on.

The blitz is a 3inch system so you should go for a 3inch downpipe to take advantage of this. Although a 2.5inch (normal Scoobysport for example) will bolt to it as the standard is 2.5inch fitting etc..

In short you could fit any downpipe..

It is more down to what you think is best..

Personnally I'd avoid twin dump.. why I hear you say..
the principle is good.. two pipes one for wastegate gases and one for turbine gases but there is a gap between turbo outlet and exhaust pipe so the gases fight and then separate down the pipes..

Personnally I'd fit an open neck 3inch.. HKS is not open neck so is one to avoid..

So the scoobysport 3inch would be fine,, I think TSL do one too..

Or Hayward and Scott.. who used to make Scoobysports before they changed to Janspeed as the manufacture.. I believe H&S have a banner ad.

Not comprehensive by any means

I would go for a 3" BPM TD38 (twin dump) downpipe. One of the best on the market.

I have one for sale if interested, drop me an email. The downpipe is already in the uk.

Christian,

its a shame i didnt read your advice earlier. I've already bought a scoobysport 3" to 2.5" down pipe.

Anyway from what ive heard it seems a good buy. I've also bought a scoobysport up pipe. Has anybody got these fitted and how are you getting on with them?

I disagree with Christian.. but that is just personal opinion.

If you add a splitter to te twin dump then it would be much better but the gases fight fr which pipe to go down once exting the turbo.

So your scoobysport downpipe narrows to 2.5inch.. will fit and will be fine, just dpends how much power you intend running and what you use the car for imho..

I believe you should have a TD05 on your car assuming it has the standard turbo so the 2.5 inch reductin may add low down torque but reduce higher rev bhp. So mae it more drivable as a road carbut less power as a track race car / weekend car etc..

I don;t think many companies make the up pipes so there is not much choice.. but I havenot looked into this as I am running standard up pipe with complete scoobsport system on my 96 car

Cant wait. I'm champing at the bit to get through my mot so i can fit my mods.

So far i have bought:

Uprated pump
Uprated regulator
scoobysport up pipe
scoobysport down pipe
Blitz Nur spec R exhaust system.

This should be fun when i fit everything at once. Cant wait to get rid of that strangled cat feeling that my car has just now)
