Anybody got any info on the scoob auto boxes..
How strong are the gears... are they going to be stronger as you wont miss a gear, how much torque can the torque convertor take??
What shifts the gears?

I have a jap import wrx auto. And going by some of the sites I've been to, the 4 speed auto box can take up to a max of 600bhp before it needs to have any major modifications. But I have trouble just getting the speed limiter removed. Take away speed is just under a second slower then a normal WRX but the mid range is better because the kickdown puts you right into the power band. and if you select the power button it will hold the revs longer in each gear. boy does it give boy racers a fright.

David,
A high stall torque converter with a line lock would see a superb take-off.
I've dabbled with high powered auto's for years, had a prototype Cosworth autobox in a 3.3 litre Sprintex supercharged Sierra.
It went well but did destroy 4 boxes although turbo power is better because the car is rolling in theory before boost, whereas with a supercharger torque is much lower.
The Impreza auto is a great tool as you are always on boost, you just steer and squirt.
Drive the Impreza auto box manually and it is also very good especially when coming down the box in a spirited manner but i couldn't see it handling more than 300-350ish bhp in standard form, not if it started life as a 220bhp rated car.
Maybe i'm wrong but the Cossie auto couldn't.

Nah... think I blame our supplier!!
I doubt the autobox could handle it either but wouldnt mind some info.. Just cant help wondering if we destroy boxes by due to the syncros and the gear changes..

David, lookin the transmission forum on www.nasioc.com, there's work being done to remap the autoECU, and many of the guys over there have changed stall points whatever they are I think the best info will be on Nasioc.
