The exhaust centre that fitted a HKS downpipe to my Forester T/tb (identical pipe to Imprezza except for O2 sensor position) cannot get a gas tight seal between the end of the pipe and the original centre section. The excuse now is that mating a ss pipe to a mild steel pipe is the cause of the leak. HKS tell me that this is nonsense. How many of you out there have fitted HKS downpipes and had no problems/any problems. I need as many responses as possible by last thing Sunday so I can tell the manager that his fitter is " not very good !!! " and to fix it.

Thanks

Brian

Claudius may be a little over the top but there is no issue with dissimilar metals as long as there is a good gasket separating them. The problem may be that the pipe is slightly "out" I know there are only 2 bolts between the DP and Centre, but it is quite easy to get a seal.

What gasket are they using?

Hi Brian,

I suppose a lot of people here buy English aftermarket parts. Not sure why. Maybe because some importers ask for too much? That would explain why dont get many responses. I have also noticed that people only tend to rerply to people they know...
