HKS HYPER noise issues
#1
Ok, ive just had this fitted and its kind'a burbly and sounds great, but what i want to know is how loud is this compared to the others in the HKS range ( drager and so on ). Also im having a de-cat fitted also will this increase the noise level enough to make a big differance.
And one quick one. i have been offered the "Bunge" that fitts in the back box so that it will quieten down the noise for long journys, anybody got one or heard one........all info apreciated

Hi
I've got a hiper with hks downpipe too, it's well LOUD. If you say it's got 'a nice burble' then I would say the downpipe will make a lot of difference as mine is a lot louder than a burble
It is I believe louder than the super drager, the drager has a bigger silencer.

HIPER you mean is indeed the loudest hks exhaust.
Adding the decat can and will probably will make it louder, specially if you use the hks downpipe which is a real noisy beast (not to mention restrictive when compared with others).

The hiper is one of the loudest exhausts out there. It comes with paperwork saying that it's not for road use whereas the dragger is (supposedly) legal. Great for setting off car alarms

I have a full de-cat with a HKS Hiper back box and it is bloody loud, back fires and even shoots out the odd flame. It is so loud I can hardly hear the radio when on full throttle.

splendid guys, Ive just had a word with the guys'n'galls at RC Developments and they also say its a loud one, but the bung keeps it all in line, im only gonna use the bung for day-to-day use, then out it comes for weekend fun!!!!!

Hiper is loud alright - but not that loud, well not on the MY'01/02 models, its actually quieter than it was on the classic impreza - plus the '01/02 model comes with a JASMA approved certificate.
Rgds, Alex
PS. the TiTip Hiper seems to be slightly quieter than the steel version.

Bung reduces noise by around 5-6dB.
Downpipe makes a huge difference - with the Hiper car passed noise tests with BPM downpipe - and then failed it with Scoobysport which is very loud and droning. Noise level is increased by at least 6dB with Scoobysport.

that surprises me trout, as i found mine went much quieter when i changed from hks downpipe to scoobysport, so imagine how loud the hks one was!
(not to mention how restrictive!)
