I remember last year that fitting a PPP on a EU import would invalidate the warranty, can anyone tell me if this is still the case?
I am thinking of getting one but don't want to ruin my warranty.
Cheers

Hi Danny,
I wrote to Prodrive asking about the PPP for the STi7 earlier this year. The response was mainly specific for Switzerland and I was told it would not be sold here and would invalidate the warranty if fitted as its not endorsed by Subaru Switzerland. Definately ring your dealer about it becasue if you are going to loose your warranty you may as well spend less money on other products for the same effect?? HTH.

Edited to say that my dealer knew of 2 STi7's that had aftermarket chips added that had let go and Subaru wouldnt touch them!

What chips swaussie - and do you know who fitted them? ;-)

Thanks
Richard

Edited to add - Prodrive will sell their products to Switzerland though....considerably cheaper than available in UK from a dealer... Sorry to hijack thread.

No I may be purchasing a MY02 that is a Euro-import but I'd like to get a PPP fitted, hence the warranty question.

IIRC, all the Benelux supplied cars now have a 3 year warranty which will not be invalidated by Prodrive parts but can't remember if you have to have them fitted in Benelux or not.

If you have a Litchfields STi 7 then I believe that your warranty will not be invalidated, even if it's fitted in the UK (but I don't know if that's possible or not).

They might get told by the dealer and if IM have anything to do with it, they'll probably make a big deal about it to the Dutch importer, on the off chance that you haven't told them, and they can invalidate your warranty and IM can say told you so, for buying an evil import

(Cynical, me? Never! )

IIRC, for an EU import, you have to get the PPP fitted in the country from which the car was originally supplied (and hence where the warranty originates from), otherwise it will invalidate the 3 year warranty.

Hence the threads a while back about group PPP buys in Belgium.

Harry is correct. Need to get the PPP fitted at an approved garage within the same county as the warranty is help. If you get a PPP fitted in the UK on a euro import your on your own.

mine was fitted by the supplying dealer in Belgium and worked out at £1000+VAT so a nice little saving.

My scoob is a dutch import with a PPP, now, the way i see it is that if Prodrive fit the PPP how can it invalidate your warranty?
There will be lots of discussion about this but i think Prodrive are more than capable of achieving a high level of modification expertis, especially if they also build/maintain/rebuild the rallycars

I think it would be possible (but not sure how likely) that if you got agreement from the importer first, then there would be no issues. It's getting the importer to agree that would be difficult bit but I know a few peolpe on here who I think could manage it

BTW, I know that Iain Litchfields can get his importers to agree to certain things like this so it *is* possible with the right persuation!
