Can someone please point me to more information on this - what exactly gets changed on the turbo. Spool up characteristics compared to the standard TD04 mill, lag, boost higher up in the range etc etc.

Murray, I have one from Mark (R19KET = Mr Turbo). All I know is it's the same TDO4L housing with differnt inards and costs £500 as an exchange unit.

In use, it seems to perform just as well as the standard turbo at low rpm, ie I get 1 bar of boost at 2,700rpm, but it keeps going at the top long after the standard turbo has given up. Mine is mapped to 1.3 bar max which means big increase in power and the perfect upgrade without going internal IMHO.

My UK00 car has a full decat exhaust, Scoobysport equal-length manifold, ITG panel filter, big TMIC and EcuTek3 remap from the excellent Dr Banks. 300ft/lbs of torque and 310bhp. A doddle to drive and with a real kick when the time is right.

Love it

Richard.

Edited to add the manifold mention, which is probably worth 10-20bhp at the top end.

Excellent. I'm busy lining up a big MRT TMIC myself and sounds like the TD04 hybrid is a good trade off between the stocker and a big VF unit.

Did you do the TMIC separately from other mods ? If so, what sort of gains / improvement did you get from it.

Murray, the TMIC effectively went on with the manifold and Tek3 remap. John Banks can tell you more about it than I can as it came off his car. It's obviously an advantage but I don't know what that means in terms of bhp.

In my view, the turbo is the key component, then the manifold. They seem to go so well together (but the Scooby burble has gone ). The remap then tweaks the ECU to extract optimum power and safety.

The Tek3 made the car smoother and faster, and got rid of all signs of det. Pre the remap, it was detting quite often when given WOT - nothing too serious but certainly a worry.

I guess the TMIC just allowed John to push the advance and boost that bit further. How much? Maybe John will post...

Cheers,

Richard.
