Yes , your wondering whats up...welli have a 98 wrx which has recently been imported and has anoisey engine , which first hand i thought was the tappets or piston slap ...however i have been told the hydrolic tappets have been replaced by shims!!!!!!! what ever they are and thats why it sounds like a spoons in the washing machine!!!
First question can i resolve this problem?
Secound question , does anyone know a quick way of making it a little quiter?
Third...why would anyone do this to a nice quite 44k engine?
Thanks for any advise!!

I do it myself mate. Since its an Import, no Subaru dealer would service it so you won't get that service stamp that people look out for. Its easy to do anyway, apart from cam belt changes (damn stupid spring loaded)..

HAHA HE HE Im not the only one who got brave and decided to do a cam belt change !!! I had to use a clamp to hold down the tension pin which was not easy and fit it on while holding the belt and opening the damn clamp!!!!!!but NEVER again.
Are you a mechanic or just enjoy getting your hands dirty?

In Glouchester Green. Its an amusement arcade. If not we can try Coffee Republic in George Street if you don't know the place.
edit: I'll take a look at your car if you want then.

No probs mate. I'm also going despite of the bad things thats happened to me for the past 2 nights. My mother in law just passed away last night and I'm taking my father in law out for the day tommorrow to ease him a bit. The Jap car meet is perfect for him as he loves cars too.

Cafe Republic mate. I'll also see if I can see any problems with your car if you want. The engine sound shouldn't be any different from mine.

Depends really. It could be your boost solenoid ticking (if you're using it still). Its difficult to explain, well thats what I write in every report I do anyway.
