Question

Hi Pete,

Will the new ecu being made by EcuTek be designed to be a plug and play for those who have a Scooby Sport decat from turbo back ? Will it have to be installed by a pro or is it just plug and play ?

Will it work for a JDM Sti-7 ?

Cheers,
Ray

Question

Ecutek is a reprogramming of your existing ecu and it therefore takes into account what mods such as decat, induction kits etc.. you have on it as the mapper will analyse the current situation first and then begin the remap to optimise your car.

Yea, but I think they have a plug and play one that doe snot need a mapper as some people don't have access to mappers (like me ).

I think the current Tek 2 for example just plugs in as a one size fits all for people with basic mods such as decat, induction kit etc.. This is what I am hoping is being developed for the STi-7 (hopefully JDM).

Cheers,
Ray

Hi Ray.The Ecutek will be plug and play.It will not generally be mapped for each individual car.The first 20 or so(mine included hopefully) will be mapped individually at Powerengineering before its up for general release.I'm sure the exhaust mods will be taken into account as they are the most common modification.I d'ont think it really matters whether you ahve Scoobysprt exhaust or other, the difference if it was mapped for your particular exhaust brand would be an extra 1% smoothness.Yes,it will be available for the JDM.The Ecutek boyz are in Las Vegas(tuning show) at present but told me product should be ready by early December.

Hi Ray.Spoke to David Power today who said it should be ready by December. When they do the first 20 or so they will construct files for the common mods( SS exhaust will be one) and then sell by mail order.Hope that helps.(Or will you have the sti8 by then??)

Lol---will not have the STi8 by then....I wish ! I think the new Sti-8 is awesome (almost full torque by 2,500 rpms, unreal !!!) a la evo 5

I am just going to have to make my Sti-7 the best I can

Thanks again for the info. Out of curiousity, is there anyway that they will be making a plug and play for hot climates (ie: some Asian countries and Bahamas as well as a map for 98 RON vs. 100 RON ?)

It would be nice to know that my car has an ecu that is setup for 70 - 95 degree F ambient temperature as well as 98 RON gas as well as my turbo back decat I would be willing to pay a pretty penny for this

Cheers,
Ray

Question

Ray I'm probably talking out of my depth here but the Ecutek may well be able to compensate for ambient conditions??

It is the risk and testing involved Ray. Maybe Prodrive might be able to offer something for you
