Cool

Has anyone had one fitted?? Does it make more power and noise?? I've already bought one and having it fitted on Wednesday but I can't wait to find out what it sounds and goes like. The rest of the system is Power Engineering and Blitz so she makes lots of lovely Subaru noise already!

You may find Jason, out of Friday 13th, has taken up residence in your engine-bay. Pressing the throttle causes Jason to fire up his 2-stroke chain saw.........you will loose a touch in terms of spool-up, but once going.....muuuuummmmmmmmm!

Sounds good to me. Why is Wednesday sooo long away?? Do you think it will make more noise though?

It's quieter; well, less droney. Some burble still left, though

Dam-nit! Wanted more noise to wake the nieghbours. Not that a blitz backbox is quiet. Oh well, at least the scooby note is kept.
I also looked at equal length jobs, but the sound difference just stopped me buying one.

More bad news...I'll have to wait till Friday to have it fitted since Perfect Products cannot supply the exhaust wrap in time. Dam, dam, dam, dam...

More noise? Just stick on one of the BPM 'twister' backboxes - no wadding at all! No eardrums either

If you're asking about the HKS...I bought it from JW Racing, cost £930 inc VAT and delivery.

Thumbs up

I have one of these fitted and agree with James.

A lot of the burble has gone now but the car sounds like a Kawasaki.

I was on the motorway once and booted it past another Subaru that I was in convoy with. When we stopped he said he was convinced it was a bike going past until he saw me!

Power wise it gave me about 15bhp and whereas my power used to drop off after 6 and a bit, it's now virtually still rising at the redline. I did loose quite a bit of midrange torque but I'm still on the standard ECU at the moment. My upcoming Link ECU should sort that.

Cheers

Rich

I've got it fitted to my car, and I'm sure it's made the car louder! On tickover you still have the burble, and once the car gets shifting from about 4k onwards, the car screams at you! It's certainly enjoyable IMO

As for the power gains, it's tough for me to say as it was fitted along with a load of other things at the same time.

Anyone at the PE rolling road last month should be able to justify how loud my car was, as it was obscene! This was with a full Scoobysport (Hayward and Scott) exhaust.

Cool

Have it and love it...

Improved spool up for me - Hybrid Turbo...same as Scott's funily enough, as is the FMIC, can't think why, apart from the time he went for a ride in my car and seemed to develop a speach inpediment (sounded like I' want one like that')

Rest of the the system is HKS Hyper on a Scoobysport downpipe, didn't get much louder, but did change the note...burbles nicely at idle, growls it's way to come up on boost and then all hell brakes loose as it screams for the red line sounding like a Honda V-Tec mixed with the below of a scoob...that and a the whistle from that big old turbo make it sound evil

General concensous was that the headers made more a jump to the performance than the FMIC did...nice choice!

Are there two versions of HKS exh manifold, equal and non-equal length units, or just non-equal length units ?????

As far as I know there is only the one tuned length tubular stainless steel version (ie unequal length) for the 'classic' scoob with lambda sensor boss next to where it meets the standard up-pipe. A blanking plug is supplied to block this hole off if you have a later MY car with the Labda sensor in the downpipe.

I beleive that there is now a version for the latest generation scoob as well.

Tim, I can't think why my car's near enough identical to yours!! I think those words were sort of close to what I said!!!

The headers do give an awesome sound, and especially when you compare them to Maxim's which lose the burble all together (but are equal length I believe ).

I am using a scoobysport up-pipe.

I prefer the sound with the hks manifold - inside the car is much quieter now - though I still have the sound of my dogbox lol!!
