As the title suggests, I understand that the Scooby Sport back boxes for the Classic shapes can be sent off to H & S for adjustments to fit. Any suggestions? Mal

If you want a scoobysport box, you can buy one with the fixings for the MY01/02 direct from scoobysport. That will be one of their new ones which is made by Janspeed rather than H&S. IMHO pictures support their claim that the new ones are nicer build.

There are lots of options for back boxes. Prodrive is fairly quiet but apparently slightly restrictive, scoobysport is mediumish noise and not restrictive, things like Blitz nurspec are very loud. I can also think of HKS, APS, MRT, power engineering, Graham Goode, TSL, H&S, Magnex, Scorpion, Mongoose, Milltek, Remus, BPM, Greddy (USA), turboXS (USA) to name but a few. Go and look at some and listen to find the one you like. IMHO there won't be a lot of difference in bhp between most of them for mildly tuned scoobs.

HKS and Blitz do offer straighter pipes which could result in higher gains.

The TSL standard backbox is to group N rally specifications!

I have a TSL group N backbox and sounds ace, you cant beat the quality of this box. It sounds just right if you dont want something too loud. Even the supports have its own brackets for extra strength.

However, i am moving to the more aggresive box otherwise known as the HKS Hiper.

I have just put a WRSport BB (sourced on SN - thanks pete) on my MY02 and I am well chuffed. The flat 4 sound is back with avengence but not too intrusive. I cant tell you what it sounds like over 4k rpm as I am still running in - but one thing I can say is that it is louder than the PPP BB I had on my old MY99.

Time will tell what it sounds like flat out.

BTW - eveything else std.

I've got an MY01 and used to the WR Sport backbox - not bad at all, but not as nice as the Scoobysport one (IMHO ). Cost wise, the WRSport will come from your dealer, so expect it to be a little more expensive. I'd be inclined to sell your old one (no problem at all getting rid of it on Scoobynet) and get a new Scoobysport Janspeed box which does look very nice

Mal - 140 - as opposed to the 350 from the dealer - there are loads of threads about BBoxes and comparisons between PPP BB and WRS BB. It took me 15 mins to fit and that included scrabbling behind the shed looking for the ramps.

Most seemed to concur that the WRS was less restrictive than the PPP BB as it had more cats in front of it.

I went for it due to the mutterings about warranty etc... Having said that I had the last scoob for 3 years and had no problems at all.

They do say that the WRS with a decat center is much louder.

Thanks guys, my dealer wants £300 fitted, the demo WRX I tested did sound nice, however the minus points (as I see it are):
1. Made of mild steel
2. No performance increase (on its own)
Plus point being, warranty remains unaffected so long as the dealer fits it.
Decisions Decisions.

Mal,
I had a scoobysport of MY99 model and they adapted it at scoobysport to fit MY02 while I waited.

Mal,

1. Its stainless.

2. The dealer doesnt have to fit it - trust me its a piece of p!$$.

3. Performance - I think that is debateable (sp?).

The Afterburner is a top product and I agree with R.B. about the excellent customer service from Wendy at Scoobyworld. There's a bit more about the exhaust on this thread.

thanks guys

We have made a slight change to the Afterburner spec - it now comes with a highly polished silencer and the weld between the tailpipe and silencer is polished out so to appear as one piece.

Happy with my Magnex cat back system. Nice burble- enough to turn heads on low revs, noise when blatted, but also civilised at cruise.

Thanks for all your help guys. I was more than happy with my Scooby Sport back box and went along the route of sending it back to Hayward & Scott for altering to fit my MY02 WRX. Sent it away on Friday, received it back this morning. Loads of thanks to H & S. Mal
