Is there anyone out there that has installed a FMIC on the STi7. I am looking for some feed back. I have recently completed running in my 2.2 stroker kit and am now contemplating the above.

Wow! A 2.2L Stroker? What brand? Where did you get it from?
Cheers.

Yip a 2.2 - The kit came from MRT in Australia and together with induction, exhaust and boost control has made some impressive numbers on the Dyno.

Cool

Mike
Can you post up some of the dyno numbers, be interesting to see what the STi7 can make.

Cheers Steve

Mike - does it run std STI7 pistons? The piston top surface of the STI7 pistons is supposedly shaped differently from the norm?

You also said that the kit came with induction, exhaust and boost control. Does this mean that you're still running with the standard ECU?

Cheers.

At this stage I am still running the Standard Turbo VF35, ECU and Intercooler.

The 2.2 kit included the following:
Forged pistons and Gudgeon pins
piston rings
modified and balanced crankshaft
crankshaft bearings
conrod bearings
billet steel conrods

The STi pistons are forged and the surface is raised in the middle slopping off to the sides. While the STi pistons are stronger than STD the stoker kit pistons are seriously beefy numbers!

Dyno run numbers:

Temp. 25 deg

0.85 bar boost 164kw atw = 220 BHp
1.05 bar boost 179kw atw = 240 BHp

Due to the heat we decided not to run higher boost
can mail the graph if you are interested.

Mike

As you have spent so much money on the stroker kit i would suggest a Gems/Link/Motec ecu, 750cc injectors, 280L/hour fuel pump, APS/HKS/APEXI front mount intercooler and maybe a Greddy 20G turbo kit. The Jap boys run way OVER 400bhp. I think Jun got something like 460bhp with a similar setup.

Cheers

Thanks Gez

Yes - I see this as work in progress and will eventually go the route you indicated. Been reading with interest the threads on the FMIC.
At this stage I am leaning toward the MRT FMIC, Link and maybe the VF22. From a cost point of view these are the best options with our crappy currency.

Hi Mike,

Why not try phoning Hein Lategan 011-466-2116, they might develop a FMIC kit, if there are enough 7's in ZA. :-)

Cheers,

Gerry
