Hello people my mate has a 98 wrx which has noisey tappets and he has been told this is a comman thing for his model of car???
Also is there a easy way of sorting the problem or making the tappets less noisier?

Thanks for any help

Wink

Banana skins will thicken your oil up a bit and a bit of sawdust quietens down a noisy gearbox.

I would stick with your normal oil, unless your engine has done very high mileage and is drinking the stuff. Is the cam belt change coming up, may be you could put in a new set of tappets at the same time. I don’t think there are any ways of bring hydraulic tappets back to life once the seals have gone.

If it is any consolation I should think turbo cars are critical of valve lift, due to the forced induction. You can always claim you have the fastest diesel on the block.

Z.

Reading through my last reply....It was supposed to say "are not critical of valve lift". The brain goes a bit dead on Friday. =)
