Hi, I have an MY97 with just under 90k on the clock. After it's had it 90k service I'm thinking of a few tweeks. Here's what I'm considering:
ITG Filter.
Full decat s/s exhuast.
Forge VTA d/v.
Dawes with an AFR and Knocklink.
Would this be OK on a 90k engine and what sort of boost would be safe with the Dawes? If so what sort of power figures can I expect?
Thanks.

Does the car suffer from piston slap, or does it use much oil, puff out smoke?
If not then it should be fairly safe to play with it My car (a 98) has 85k miles on it, it has suffered piston slap from about 60k, when I started seriously playing with it...it's now playing with the big power boys with their Sti's and well and truely holding it's own.
If a scoob is well looked after they tend to keep on going like a VW IMHO

Not burning any oil, no puffs of smoke and only mild piston slap when cold which completely goes away once warmed up. I think I should be OK if I don't go too mad with the boost levels then.

Sounds in a better state then mine!
Personally I don't like bleed valves, I think if your going to play about with boost then you should also adjust the fueling and the ignition to make it safe.
Getting a proffesional Link or a Gems ECU install is the best way ahead there IMHO. And on stock internals I wouldn't increase the rev limit or get it mapped above 1.25 bar peak (especailly on a stock TD04 turbo)
Before playing with the ecu, changing the air filter and a full decat exhaust will make a huge difference to the car for a relatively modest outlay. One of the open neck or twin dump downpipes to improve turbo spool up (Scoobysport, TSL, Scoobymania, MRT, BPM etc offer them), linked to a straight through centre section and a free flowing back box will do the job nicely
Porting the standard manifold is also a good idea and relatively cheap.
Uprating the fuel piump is also a good mod, but mainly for safety.
If you can afford to get a hybrid turbo and an ecu swaop together then you will have really caught the bug!
