Having the Prodrive quickshift fitted tomorrow, don't know what it's like yet so can't recommend it as such, will let you know what it's like when I've had a drive.

It's more expensive than most £180 plus VAT I think, rather than shop around why the dealer had the car thought I might as well just get them to fit it.

Might be worth contacting Rally Design (www.raldes.co.uk) they are advertising quickshifts for pre 96 Impreza's @ £41 +vat and post 96's @ £38.50 + vat which is about the lowest price I've seen. don't know if they do one to fit MY01/02 though.

...Can somebody tell me the principle of having a Quickshift gear operation. Is it similar to what you see on rallycars where you either move the stick forwards and backwards.

How do you put it into reverse for example?

I am completely in the dark here but am wondering whether its worth buying one if they are only about £40 or £50.

Would having a multilock mean I could still get one fitted?

Thanx

the quick shift shortens the throw between gear changes by about 20%
changing gear is exactly the same only quicker

Doesn't MY99+ cars (old shape at least) have a quickshift throw?

Does a quickshift reduce that throw by another x% or wont you see much difference?

Cheers
Richard.

Cool

Just had me B&M quickshift fitted this morning & it is rude the amount of less travel needed 2 change gear on my MY97 turbo 2000 so defo no quick thing b4 but as the guy said who fitted it it is very extreme Quality it's such a more sporty feel now just popping it between gears with the mearest of twitches
Aint cheap & sum chaps have said just make 1 yerself for £5 but i like quality so i'd rather fork out da wedge

Changed my MY99 STI (Quickshift Linkage as Std) for one from BRD, throw is much more reduced and more precise, I believe the 'Classic' shape throw was about 10% less throw than UK and the BRD is about another 15-20% less than the Sti one!

BL,

Get the B&M one from TSL, it makes a much bigger difference in the MY'01+ WRX than the STi one does (MY'01 WRX has a slightly shorter throw than the MY'00 as standard, and Subaru sell the same part no. for both model years - thus has less effect on the new shape cars).

Also its a lot cheaper, as someone said above, the STi ain't cheap.

Rgds, Alex

PS. I'll have the details of what you txt'd me about later today.

I fitted a JWR quick shift a few weeks back, great quality and loads of room for adjustment. Took me a few days driving to find the best setting, I had it adjusted too much at one point, the movement was so small I found it hard to find nuetral .

Buy one!

You have tried my B&M quick shift... you know which one you should go for!

Much shorter throw, easy to have fitted and it loosened up within a couple of days.

Call Trouser you know you want to!
