Edited coz I'm an idiot.
So, (bare with me here), when you look at the bottom 3 studs, you should only see a single nut on each??
If that's the case, I can breath a sigh of relief that that the bottom two haven't sheered - coz they're actually studs

correct but they have sheared on me before as the nut has been overtightened onto the stud. also the stud has come completley out before, although this is not as big a problem.

Thanks P20SPD.
My Dealer has just replaced the DP, so looks like they got the nuts off OK. I'll maybe loosen them a bit and give them a blast of WD40 just to make sure they're OK.

the wd40 will help loosen them, it wont help once you've retightened them and run the engine, it will just be burned away by the high temps. If you lube them whilst torquing up, the actual torque you put on will be more then otherwise!

when using wd40, use it as per instructions... spraying it on for 20 seconds, just doesnt really make any difference.. Spraying and leaving for a few hours, possibly re-applying now and again, does help loosen them.
But, the nuts subaru used, are stainless, and sometimes it just seizes, and there is nothing can be done about it. Forceful removal is the only option.
