Drivetrain issue - help please
Hi,
After some info/advice. I was driving my 03 WRX on a motorway on Thursday and on slowing at the end, noticed a slight clunking as I was coasting to a halt. It was one clunk every 10 metres or so, so too far apart to be a CV joint. I then went on to the next motorway on a sweeping slip road, and the clunk was there but more frequent. I then came off the motorway onto the services at the first opportunity. On parking up and using full lock, the clunking was significant and very frequent, every 0.5 metre of travel. I then drove it to a garage (I know,). While running on the motorway there was little to no vibration, but again when parking at the garage with lock on the clunking was significant, causing the whole car to shake. This was last Thursday. The garage has come to run it today, but there's no clunking at all while driving round. Drive shafts/wheel berarings/CV joints seem fine.Diffs seem to work while on the ramp.
My suspicion is that the front or centre diff is damaged, but it only becomes noticable when the drivetrain is warm. I don't do much miles in it, normally trips of 10 miles, but I'd done about 40 miles right around the speedlimit when I first noticed the clunking. Anyone any idea what may be going on? Garage is at a bit of a loss. They think the centre diff is a plate diff, and the plates are damaged. Can anyone confirm?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Phil, is the garage you took it to a Subaru specialist mate? Where about in Lancashire are you?
