Diff problems.......
Peeps
Just wondering if any of you fine people can offer any advice.........??
I have a MY96 STI v2 import with about 70 odd thousand miles on the clock. The problem started a few months ago when i go out for a drive for 20 minutes or so the diff is fine but once it has been driven for about 25 minutes or so when you are about to turn left or right from a stationary position as the drive takes up the traction you hear a clunking noise from the rear end.
Once travelling in a straight line or driving normally round corners fine no clunking. When it was last serviced i explained this to the garage eventually they could hear it put it on the ramps checked over the drive train drive shafts,cv joints etc......they said they could'nt find any problem and to strip the diff was going to cost loads........so they suggested a main dealer to diaignose.
I was wondering the following.............
1.Have any of you fine peeps had any problems like described above...??
2.If i have to get another diff what type would i need for MY96 STI V2 import regarding ratio's etc....??
3.Is replacing a diff a massive job for a garage or could 2 or 3 reasonably competent people remove the old and replace with new one....??
Thanks for all advice given in advance
Cheers
Stevie.P.........
