Blobeye Inner CV Boot
Hi,
I've got a replacement inner CV boot for my 2003 Blobeye WRX.
Is it possible to undo the two hub to strut bolts, unclip the existing boot & pull it back, split the inner CV joint and swap the boots over without taking the end of the driveshaft out of the gearbox?
As per this video which is a different Subaru with similar looking shafts:
I'll be doing the job on a 2-post and the hub to strut bolts have been undone so this wouldn't be an issue. I'm just checking as if it does need to come out the gearbox and have oil drained etc. I'll need to buy some gearbox oil before organising the use of the lift etc.
Thanks!

Ok, is it possible without pulling it out the gearbox? Alignment isn't a big issue as I've also access to a hunter rig when I need it so I do alignments every so often anyway to check it's all where it should be!

I'm asking if it is possible without removing anything from the gearbox and draining the oil by splitting the cv joint as shown in the video, but on a 2003 blobeye wrx.

Thanks for the replies, I think I misread some of them slightly but they are clear- my bad.
Just as an update- I did successfully do this last week. I didn't end up removing the shaft from the hub but it would have been easier had I done so- as I was using a 2-post the awkwardness wasn't too bad but on the driveway it would have been a PITA without removing it fully.
Thanks!
