Default What diffs are in the WRX?

Hi all

Just wondering what types of differentials are in my hawkeye wrx? Is it open diff front, lsd rear and open diff center? How does the center diff work? If i was to lock up the rear wheels with the handbrake (assuming the cable doesn't snap) will it ruin the center diff?

thanks in advance!

Normally its open front, vicious centre and lsd rear, would not recommend doing handbrake turns in your car unless you want a big bill to replace the centre diff.

Sounds like the same as my old Celica GT4, from my understanding viscous couplings are basically LSDs, I wonder why they dont just use a normal lsd for the center?

By "normal" do you mean plate-type lsd or torsen diff?

I remember when I first had my Integrale Evo I, I also got all confused over this. Until I learnt that the 'centre diff' is encased at the rear of the gearbox.

Prior, I took the term 'centre' to mean quite literally i.e. in the centre of the car, sandwiched between an 'output shaft' from the gearbox and a short propshaft to the rear diff. Doh!

Need Help. I purchased a used TY754VBAAA trans to replace the broken TY754VN2AA that was in my 02 WRX. What all will I need to change to make this new trans work? Thanks in advance.
