Crap dealers
#1
I know this gets raised far too often, but I have to vent
it anyway.
Had my 98 Turbo booked in for it's 52500 service at CD Brammall
in Cheltenham yesterday, booked 3 weeks in advance.
Simple 1 to 2 hour job was quoted price of £120 inclusive.
Well place was in complete chaos, morose staff with no technical knowledge available on the service reception.
I had asked them to stuff the MOT prod up the exhaust to see how far adrift emissions would be since decat.
When I came to collect the car I had a further wait of 1 hour - "cos we have too much on" - but I booked 3 weeks ago - not my problem.
Cost £173.00 - reason sidelight bulb was needed and emissions test.
Either an expensive bulb or emissions test!
MOT is £36 complete including emission check, so why £53 for a bulb and emission check I do not know.
Service Manager was not available.
To cap it all when I got in the car I check the Service book - no stamp! Go back in and get told we only stamp it if you ask us to. How dumb, the only reason we have to use franchised dealers is to get the valued stamp in the book.
Shall be my last visit there - shame that Listers have finished!
Ironically I was a gnats whisker fron agreeing a deal on an '02 WRX with them. Whilst waiting I had been in the Jaguar dealers and spoken with a very knowledgable chap about an X type 3.0 litre Sport. Test drive was impressive and they offered me more for my Scoob than CD Brammall Subaru.
Geuss what chaps -I may defect.
WAKE UP SUBARU / IM and GET SOME DECENT DEALERS WHO ARE WILLING TO TREAT SCOOBY ENTHUSIASTS WITH RESPECT.
Without us they will by stuffed selling agricultural farm vehicles.
Any comments welcome.
it anyway.

I.M. encourage exactly the kind of big dealer franchisees that lack personal service, by setting franchise prices that mean the dealers have to trunover x'000 units.
Go to your nearest independently run Subaru franchise for decent service. I can recommend Fenny Compton near Banbury and still drive 45mins to get there for decent service and knowledge. Just don't expect a fantastic loan car or a wash and valet.

Cross Roads in Tredington (on A44 towards Stratford) are truly excellent - always have a tech on reception too. I've tried all of the above mentioned places but although they are ok, Cross Roads is superb. From you they're less than an hour away in average traffic.

Dont "Just" speak to service manager, get on the phone to Subaru UK and tell their customer relations guy, "John Sherwood", he's the one who should be told of problems at dealers. He can then copntact them, find out what went wrong and get something done about it, simply chewing the ear off the service manager may not get things changed, but speaking to someone "above" him, may well do so.
