Default 6Mbps internet speed but slow webpages???

I've done a speedtest.net test and it shows a good ping and almost 6Mbps speed but the even basic internet pages are really painfully slow to load.

Rebooted the router and still the same.

I'm not sure where to start looking for the problem really.

Where would you start?

yeah try chrome or firefox if not try differing DNS servers....these will need to be manually added in your PC or router in network settings

It's across the whole network regardless of device

On the router, record (make a note of) the primary and secondary DNS servers, find out also what the DNS servers of your ISP are, if different modify the the routers settings and save / apply the changes, it may reboot the router at that point.

Reboot a computer on the network and see if it's any better.

An alternative primary DNS server you could otherwise try is 8.8.8.8 (Google run it)

You can also manually specify DNS settings on each computer if absolutely necessary.

6Mbps is really not that much bandwidth, also is it only you who is using it or do you have other devices / family connected such as smartphones, tvs, fridges, daughter, son, wife, uncle etc etc

If not try it off peak during the day and then again on peak see if there is a difference. Who is your provider?

If you had no real problems with the speedtest site then I doubt its a laptop / PC issue.

As said, sounds like DNS, but wouldn't hurt to run some spy/mal ware checks, clear out your temp internet files and make sure you don't have other applications making use of the bandwidth.
