Guys

I am wondering if this is possible.

Subtotal a column based on the date in another column.
For example

Column A has the date, column B has the number
20/01/2014 1.5
25/01/2014 2.0
02/02/2014 1.5

January = 3.5
February = 1.5

Thanks in advance.

Yep

An extra column "C"

=month(a1)

& drag it down. You will see that January = 1, February =2 etc

Then

=sumif(c:c,1,b:b) will get you the total for January, replacing 1 with 2 for February etc

Two screenshots

1st shows the above and how it might be presented. I would suggest hiding C & F when completed

2nd shows underlying formulas

(I'm at work with 3 days to go before I leave... )
