I have now transferred all the data I require from my old white Macbook onto my new Macbook Pro.
I want to sell the old macbook but first I want to be sure that ALL personal data etc is wiped totally. Is there anyway this can be done using whatever is within the macbook or downloading a free wipeout prog ? I don't really want to have to buy something to do the job.
I want to be sure it is clean.

Very easy depending on the OS. If it is running the newer OS, say 10.7 then you can boot holding down the ALT key into recovery partition and then wipe and reinstall.

If older OS, say 10.6 then as long as you have a startup disc, say the original CD's that came with it, then boot up from CD/DVD, wipe and reinstall.

The formatting will do everything (via Disk Utility) that you need

It is an old system 10.4.11 and I do have all the discs so will give it a go.
