Default iPad - what's happening?

OK, what's the score with the iPad right now?

Same mate who has iTunes wants an iPad, not a mini, a full size iPad.

I said to him to hang fire as I am sure I read there is a new one possibly on the way in Spring. Is that right and if so what is the likely advantage of it over the current one?

And while we're on the subject what is the current one - 3rd generation or fourth... I have lost track?

3rd gen now with the retina screen, probably needs a 4th gen one soon as the competition has now taken the lead technology wise (and cheaper), but most feel you dont need to go beyond the 2nd gen one as its more bang for your money.

So the latest Ipad is just an Ipad 3 + retina display? Wiki lists it as 4th Gen:

Yes, it also has the lightening connector and they have discontinued the iPad 3. You can still buy the iPad 2 new from apple though.

It is a 4th gen , I had a go with my brothers Saturday, it's ok retina is nice but not a just. Bearing in mind the retina apps are bigger so 16gb gets filled quickly.

Ill be sticking to my iPad 2 for a while.

Current one is 4th Generation iPad. It's Retina, has an A6 processor, so it's quicker than the 3rd Gen iPad.

Current rumors are that a 5th Gen iPad may appear in the spring, along with a 2nd gen iPad mini, which will have a retina screen.

OK does anyone have an inkling as to what the next generation iPad might offer over the current one? Will it just be a faster processor and a few ergonmic things or is there someting radical in the pipeline.

As an observation the 3rd generation didn't last long did it? Not like Apple that to be fair.

Nothing wrong with the 3rd, but people do want the new connector hence the 4th.

I don't expect anything radical for a good while. The iPad 1 is still an incredible machine and in terms of usefulness ranks with the best the competition has to offer. My iPad 2 still amazes me weekly.

Samsung will try something outrageous this year, they've tried copying and that didn't work.

Just bought a 62 gb Led I pad mini... The mini is the one everyone wants as apple trimmed down the frame of the I pad to make a lighter smaller I pad mini... It has a 5 x processor which is a lot faster than the old I pad.... Make sure to either buy the 32gb or the 62gb as the 16gb will hold f**k all mermory
