Default VGA issues

Yo,

I bought a new VGA cable to replace one running on an extension, due to the slight shadowing on the screen.

The cable I bought was

Amazon Amazon

and the only difference between this and my current is a pin missing on the older one.

However with the new cable I can only get much lower res ?

I'm not up on how these cables work .. any ideas?

VGA and SVGA are video resolutions. DSUB9 and DSUB15 is the connector type. You can't plug a DSUB9 into a DSUB15 (and vice versa) connector.

Something to do with the EDID recognition I suspect.

Does your PC still recognise the monitor as it was named before?

If you can't select a previous resolution by changing the cable, it suggests the GFX thinks a different monitor is attached and with you description, of different specification.

Try another cable as that new one appears to be borked for what you want.
