Nice looking bit of hardware, my money says flop. It crashed on it's first demo and it comes with a Stylus... a Stylus!!

I'm sceptical about it. Looks good and has a lot of promise but I'm not sure what it is actually in the market as. Is it a competitor for the iPad as all the press are saying or is it actually an evolution of the ultrabooks?
It is a game changer but I don't think it will affect Apple.

I really like the hardware, but to be a competitor to the iPad you need more than hardware and software, you need a full ecosystem and only Apple have managed to get that right. However, if I was a producer of an Android tablet I'd be worried.

It doesn't matter how good it is, there is enough irrational support of iPad to keep it at the top of the pile. That's not to say I don't think iPad is good, it is.
If they target enterprise use instead of consumer they may have a hit on their hands though.

I think I read that there's some hardware included that will be appreciated by Enterprise. I wish them luck, it's nice to see a tablet that's not just an iPad copy.

I wouldn't necessarily berate it for coming with a stylus, after all, how many people went out and bought a stylus for their iPad just to play drawsomething?
I think it looks interesting, perhaps not innovative but as a business tool it makes more sense to me than an iPad. Yes you can do officey things on the pad, even basic CAD but to have an actual windows tablet that gives me the functionality of my iPad and the easy business solutions of a windows PC I can see me buying one.

I must admit, if I could get proper integration between my PC, tablet and smartphone, that would be appealing.
I simply can't do that at the moment unless I spend megabucks on Apple stuff.

For once MS have actually developed something which looks polished, finished, well thought through in terms of hardware and software and may even ship !
I think, hands down, if they get this right, the price point spot on, the software working, the peripherals sorted and the market likes it, then I can see it taking a big chunk of the iPad market.

Itll change the game. I was at microsoft last week and saw the samsung windows 8 tablet, lovely, the basics were both microsoft and apple bought multi touch technology, apple made the ipad microsoft made the stupid 10k table, called surface, they saw the mistake and made this.
Im working with many global clients who want tablets like these and currently the market has 3
Fujitsus
Samsungs
Dells
Samsungs being the best, dells is crap too slow, fujitsus looks like an alpha build.
Ipads in business are ok, but will not ever become a standard catalogue item for domain logins, apple just dont have the ability to work on a network and adhere to policy tpm chips etc, so are used but not as the main item
These surface will sell as its a nice item, and as for the stylus, its needed just as a ipad stylus is, if you plan to use it in anger, using ya pigs tit fingers to design a network or write fast in a meeting generally isnt great, the pen helps
I have 3 ipads in my house and i love them, but general practice is this tablet will be good and will also integrate into mainstram coporation domain network active directory systems.

Most of what you speak of Blackberry tried to address with the Playbook, flop. But I agree, it's a good product on paper, lets hope MS can deliver on it's promises.

Think main feature is windows and specifically windows 8, ok maybe not the best for a consumer, but microsoft wont be just attacking that like what apple was, this will be built for business as well as the kids.
The pro version being the business ready variant. Should be good, mnever gonna be as smooth as apples baby, mbut the windows phones are pretty cool ifmyounhave enough grunt behind them. The samsung pad i used last week at microsoft with windows 8 on was a pleasure to work with. Core i5 4 gig ram, how it should,be none of the atom ****e i want grunt
