New desktop PC
I've had my current desktop for almost 7 years so think it's time for an upgrade.
Computer is used for internet and putting downloaded films onto disc, etc
current spec
AMD 3100
1.8GHZ
2.0GB RAM (max upgrade)
NVIDIA Geforce 6100
XP Pro
new computer spec (£99)
HP XW6200
9.3GHZ
2.0GB RAM (upgradeable to 8GB)
80GB HD
XP Pro
8 USB slots
For the price it looks a bargain but as i'm not sure whats what the question is - will this run a lot faster than my current PC? and will it run more applications at once?
Thanks

Google says yes... but more tasks will require more memory, IMHO.

The 9.3 GHz is garbage...
dunx
P.S. It's more of a server than a games machine...

Seems like a reasonable price. I run my internet surfing here on my yonks old HP Compaq nc6000. I'll have a look on my old mates website for one of his "box swaps"... called fast ' easy computers.

But it'll be a lot faster than my 1.8GHZ wont it?
I don't know anything about computers so these specs mean nothing, i just want something that will do more than 1 thing at once without slowing down too much.
My PC is maxed out at 2gb and this new 1 is 2gb but will go upto 8gb - isn't this where the speed is?

You need To increase your RAM size if you are upgrading the processor to give it more memory to work with. ATM im running an AMD Bulldozer quadcore at 4GHZ Overclocked and 16GB DDR3 RAM But thats as fast as a home computer needs to be

this new 1 is 2gb but will go upto 8gb
So factor in a new 64bit operating system when it comes to uppping the RAM any higher than that.
80gb hard drive is too small for films too. 800gb would be more suitable
