Default iPhone 4s help - in-call sound screwed

Hi All,

I've an iPhone 4s (not mine, work colleague).

Since purchase, we've been unable to hear a dialling tone & in-call sound through the ear piece is very quiet.

We've:
- (already) removed plastic cover
- Adjusted sound volume to max
- Hard Reset the phone

Oddly, if put on "speaker" it's very clear.

Just doing the update to 5.01 now . . . .

Otherwise I've no clue.

5.01 could well sort it, we have one iphone that intermittantly does this in our office and updates seem to sort it...for a while. though no issues since the last update now.

Technical support confirm it's a known issue.

Sending it back.

Right.

It's now two weeks on and I'm on my third iphone 4s.

The initial phone was sent back

The second phone was locked to the wrong provider

Third one on the way.

Are you restoring it every time? Tried the phone before restoring?

of course.

It transpires that it's a fault with AppleCare

The phones which were sent me were incorrectly locked to another provider.

Hopefully be sorted by the end of the week.

Finally resolved today.

Apple had to update their DB as I'd not been sent the phone they should have sent me. .. .
