Default Best place to buy new copy of Win XP Home?

I need to wipe and clean an old laptop and wanted to put Win XP home on it so I could run some old games. Looking around it seems to be about £80. Can I get it anywhere cheaper?

Thanks

Is the laptop already running XP Home? If so and you can get the serial number then you could download the OS from somewhere and perform a wipe and reinstall using the key from the version that was already installed.
Ok, so the legality of doing this is somewhat questionable, as in you'd be grabbing the OS from a torrent, but if you already owned the key then it's not as if you're pirating the key.

Yes it does. Thanks for this. I had not thought about the fact I already have a licensed copy.

Some vendors eg dell have their own builds so make sure you get the right copy of the software which matches your key

Nimbus, if it's a Dell laptop and was supplied with XP the key will be on the underside on a Windows label, it may in the battery compartment. That is your OS key and all you then need is a Dell XP disk which if you ask around you are sure to find someone who has one. Copying it/usig it is perfectly legit as you own a valid licence. If the key isn't on a label you can extract the key using a tool - Google is your friend, but for it to be a legit XP machine the key should be on it on the Windows label somewhere.

Don't think Dell were doing that back then, always supplied disks for XP as far as I recall.
