Default what wireless router

just a quick question folks,my son has an xbox360 and he wants to get live for it,we currently have a netgear n150 router and i think that this does not have the ability to run the xbox.basically we need a router that will run the xbox and a couple of laptops at the same time with a range that will work in an average sized 3 bed house and be reasonably priced.hope this makes sense i havent got a clue about this wireless/xbox stuff.

thanks

james

The netgear n150 router is wirless so it will work as normal with xbox live. All of you on at the same time will be slow for a budget router bear in mind

If he has a fat Xbox, it will need a wireless G or N dongle to enable wireless connectivity . This must be a genuine MS dongle!

if he has a slim Xbox then it will have inbuilt wireless G/N

Re your router:

Netgears are 50 / 50 with xbox's dependant on model & firmware

Both my DG84n's would accept and connect to live, but wouldnt media stream

Another thing to check when you connect to live, is the NAT status.

If you have a router with an open NAT, your fine - Moderate is not so good, but still workable - Strict is a nightmare, and you would be better off buying a new router
