If you don't know how rooting will benefit you, you don't need it

Google maps for sat nav. Co Pilot costs.

The best keyboard i've found over the last year has been SlideIT. It takes a little getting used to, but is actually pretty accurate. Far better than Swype.

If you want a traditional pressing style keyboard, then SwiftKey is by far the best. It is scary it's predictions, the SMS almost write themselves.

I find it hard to slide words whilst walking, so will toggle between the two keyboards depending on mood / situation.

Had a play with Co Pilot. Not worth the money. Google maps does just as good a job, with compass mode, layers and street view, it does everything i need in a sat nav. Plus it's Freeeeee.

Co pilot seems fairly resource hungry when running I have heard some htc users have had issues with their phones overheating and restarting when using it in the car.

Okay thanks again appreciatte the info guys , all noted re the keybaords will try them both out and see what suits best, regards the sat nav managed to " find " a copy will install and see how I get on, the only thing with google street view is obviously it relies on internet data which costs as opposed to the co pilot which is all installed, again will try it out thou and see what works out best. thanks again

Do the route with google maps at home/work over wi-fi, then providing you don't stray too far off the beaten track, it wont use any/much additional data. It's not something i have to worry about with a FUP of 3GB.

The only problem with CoPilot that it needs an activation code, so whilst the "found" copy will install, it wont work properly.
