Which ADSL Modem?

Right, am doing self-install ADSL, quite probably with plus.net.
what box should I go for.
have looked at the as yet unreleased Draytek 2600 Why? well, it;s got a lot of features, including firewall and other bits I'd quite like.
Anyone used on?
What else would one recommend?
basically i want to protect myself as much as possible but still be able to connect to the machine from either the office in the UK or USA, probably using PC anywhere, or somesuch utility.

If you want to remotely access your systems you'll have to either use a VPN or some form of authentication. If you simple open up the PCAnywhere ports on your router then the world and his dog will have a whale of a time very quickly.
You will also need a static IP from your ISP.
As to your ADSL question the Zyxel Prestige works well...

Just got in an U/B ADSL Router with USB connection.
I sell it out at £65 plus VAT.
As your in Kent pop down and have a look.

The Draytek 2600 does look pretty good and will do just about everything you need (http://www.seg.co.uk/draytek/products/vigor2600.html. If you configure NAT that will prevent most things from accessing your hardware. And because it supports NAT forwarding you should still be able to access from home.
For the IP address, the dyndns.org suggested by Simon is really good. Remember though that your provider also gives you a (complicated) DNS name that is allocated against your DHCP IP address. By pinging that from the office you should at least be able to tell if the address is the same or not before connecting to your PC.
One comment though: If you only have a single PC at home that will be connected to the ADSL have you considered just installing a firewall such as Norton Internet Security 2002 and using a simple USB ADSL modem? That's a much cheaper option than the router and will do the same for a single machine.

I will have static IP anyway, have confirmed that with plus.net so that's cool. just want some kind of protection as I don't want any bugger getting onto my machine, well, apart from me!

I've got fixed IP ADSL and I run a very nice free firewall called ZoneAlarm (download from http://www.zonelabs.com)
It's reliable, stable and, um, inexpensive
