Default WinXP install from USB

Hi,

have a Siemens Amilo laptop with a duff DVD drive.

Have tried bartPE and a few other methods to try and get the USB to boot but no luck. The laptop supports USB boot and the key I prepare works in another computer but just not here!!!

Is there anything else I can try?

And before you ask - the network card seems to be duff too so I can't do it over the network

Yes - have made it boot from USB but no joy.

It sees the USB device in the boot menu but it won't boot from it - whereas another PC works fine with it.

plugged in an external DVD drive via USB - can boot from it but then the setup application shows a black screen (or is very very slow to progress) after the 'press any key to boot from cd' message
