Default Anyone use SN with IE8?

If so, how does it perform?

Now, I usually use firefox, but sometime I have to use the odd PC without it installed (like now).

What I find is in normal mose it is dog slow, drop down menus take ages to slide into view and the textboxes are very slow and extremely laggy in responding to keypreses. Highlighting/selecting text is slow. Its like I've ran out of GPU/CPU/RAM, but everything is fine (1gig free, 1% cpu, 0% GPU etc.)

Before you say "its IE8, mate". If I click on "compatability mode". Performance is restored, everything is nice and snappy. Problem is I lose a few menus (tabs menus in user profiles for example).

Can anyone confirm if they suffer the same issues? If not what is going on and is it fixable at my end?

Works fine with IE8 for me (and IE9 beta). Have you got any 3rd party plugins installed? Virus checkers, anti-malware etc...

Just nod32 business. No fancy plug ins (except Java and Flash and adobe PDF), no toolbars/helper bars etc. Tried it on some other PCs here and its the same; very laggy typing and very slow to display drop-down menus.

Phishing filter is disabled and Smartscreen filter is disabled

Works fine in compatability mode, actually feels almost as quick as Firefox

I've got a feeling its a template issue with Scoobynet/Vbulletin, but I didn't want to moan at the SN tecchys until I'm sure I'm not missing some sort of setting or errant reg key somewhere.

Hence why I'm here, plus I may suspect this could be the issue behind some people's complaints on the speed of SN who maybe using IE8

Hmmm, my home PC is ok. (ish, its useable - not brill, but that's explorer+SN for you)

This is just weird.

I have adverts turned off - plus-member perk (except forum direct forum sponsors), so its not that.
