Default Best deals and help on buying a Lap Top

Help!!

I want to buy my wife a Lap Top for Christmas and I know she would appreciate a half decent one.

I would really appreciate any help in finding the right one my budget is £300 - £400 (preferably £300!)

Argos have a lap top sale on at the moment but with all the specs and figures for memory etc they are quoting, if i'm honest I don't understand

It will mainly be used for internet surfing, ebaying and to use Microsoft Word etc a CD writer would also be usefull

Any recommendations?

Thank you in advance

300 will be difficult. they all seem to cluster round the 350 mark for anything half decent.

Yes, they seem to be £350 -£380. Thats ok but with so much choice it's difficult to understand what is best for your money

Although highly difficult for Christmas presents, I would recommend buying as late as possible as laptop prices seem to come down weekly.

Some of the Dell's and Acer laptops with 3gb/4gb that are on sale for £399 seem good. PC World and Argos have sales as well as Misco etc..

Have you got a "Staples" near you..........they often have the odd "managers special" laptop marked down to get rid of stock.

I always seem to get caught out with the added cost of non-included software. dl

I bought an HP laptop from Staples yesterday, last in the shop so on the shelf with £80 off. I guess they need the space for a newer model LOL

The other thing is that if it goes wrong I can just take it back

Excellent help and advice everyone, thank you very much.

Staples is appealing as they are local and I can go in and speak to them with any issues if I purchase from them, however the deal on hot deals looks great with some good reviews.

I shall go with one or the other, will pop into Staples this week first.

Thanks again everyone, it's really appreciated
