Default Autocad

Evening all,

I want to find a copy of Autocad, I dont need the latest all singing all dancing version as I really only want to utilise it for 2D drawings so I can organise cutting templates and accurate tooling knives.

Can you actually buy an older version anywhere? There is no point in me trialing the new one (I have to learn this myself) as the family business cant afford a copy. I'd like to find an old version that I can learn on and start to get to grips with.

Basically I need a programe that will allow me to draw, in a similar way to google sketchup but I could use a better format for it to print and include dimensions etc as the afore mentioned sketchup doesnt on the free version as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions?

I used to use AutoCAD LT but recently downloaded SolidEdge - it's genuinely completely free, and is a 2D version of the 3D SolidWorks. It works really well and it has a simple tutorial included that's worth following.

Cheers, just put my work details on their website to request a 2D version.

I anticipate it could take me a while to get to grips with, but the stuff I'm looking to do is very basic. I just want another option to wasting man hours in our factory making templates by hand!

Thanks for that

Excellent thanks for the assistance guys. Not made much progress with this as yet, think I'll use up some of the weekend to hit PC world and see what they have as options too.
