Dell laptops
Guys,
My sons laptop screen has broken - Dell Inspirion 1545.
Its only a couple of years old too
From research it seem that a replacement screen is approx £100
Any ideas on a suitable replacement as I guess for another couple of hundred quid I coud just replace it?
Cheers,
Shaun

I`ll never touch a Dell again after having numerous problems with an XPS M1730 and was left in limbo for months with a faulty laptop.

To be honest I reckon you could get a screen from Ebay for about £70 delivered. I replaced a 15in lcd display on a friends Toshiba laptop. It's quite easy to remove the lcd from the surround and replace it. For that kinda money it's defo worth repairing or if you buy a new laptop, repair the 1545 lcd and keep it as a spare...
Good luck

I've only ever had to call them once, and to be fair I mainly resolved the problem via a technical online help thing which you type questions into and they type the answers
We also use Dell in work for all our PC's/laptops/Servers

Dell make fantastic laptops.
and with their excellent driver support (service tag), have a great lifespan.
+1 for replacing the screen

We now have HP's at work and you ain't seen nothing until you've spoken to HP re hardware faults. I've heard one of our support guys have a real torrid time with them on the phone!!!
I've bought and sold a lot of Dell computers over the years and they are bloody good reliable machines (Of course you might get the odd one have a failed hard disk but you get that with any machine!)
If you're buying new, then I'd also recommend Dell

Fiddly but take your time and easily done. Have a look at this - Ok, not your exact machine but it will give you an idea of what's involved. No doubt a google will bring up a fitting guide for your laptop though!
